Fogo: Training for members of institutions that deal with assistance to victims of GBV canceled due to transport problems

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The training action for members of the different institutions of the network of assistance to victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) scheduled for today , in São Filipe, was canceled due to problems on the Praia/São Filipe/Praia air connections.

The training for three dozen representatives of institutions that deal with the care of victims of GBV was scheduled for today, May 23, within the framework of the project “improving access to resources and quality care for women and girls victims of GBV”.

Project technician Beltrond de Barros confirmed to Inforpress the cancellation of the activity due to the uncertainty of connecting flights between the islands of Santiago and Fogo, noting that some of the entities that participated in the event had to travel from the City of Praia, including the ambassador from Spain.

It was also canceled and postponed for a date indicating the signing of the tripartite protocol , scheduled for today, between the Municipal Chamber of São Filipe, ICIEG and Asde aiming at the reopening and operation of the “Mamma Pina” Shelter , witnessed by the ambassador of Spain and the Spanish non-governmental organization (NGO) that will work on this issue together with the Capuchins.

The cancellation of flights between Praia and São Filipe, which left the island of Fogo without an air connection since Sunday, led to the postponement of the visit of a mission from Aldeias SOS de Cabo Verde to the island of Fogo for a presentation by the coordinator of the project “Family Strengthening and Child Protection ” in the municipality of São Filipe.

For this Thursday, according to a source linked to the Airports and Air Security company (ASA), three flights are planned between Praia and São Filipe.
