Africa-Press – Cape verde. The government wants to integrate the rabidantes into the digital system to increase the capacity to intervene in their businesses and have greater income, through the initiative “Nu krê ser digital”, an event promoted this Saturday by the Prime Minister.
The event, which took place in the Conference Room of the Cabo Verde Technology Park, responding to the challenge launched by a group of Sucupira rabidants, had a room well composed of these professionals, who took advantage of the moment to, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, and the Minister of Business Promotion and Development, express their concerns.
Acknowledging the role that these women play in the informal economy and in the Cape Verdean social fabric, the head of government highlighted that the entrepreneurial attitude is “a very positive thing”.
“We don’t hear anyone here asking for things. We hear people saying they want to grow, have opportunities, tools and conditions to access financing and then pay back that financing. That’s what makes things sustainable. Because giving ends and allowing empowerment lasts over time, people can develop and create better conditions for their lives and their businesses,” he explained.
The meeting with the rabidantes allowed for clarifications on digital use, from facilitating the promotion of their businesses, information, financial literacy, contact with customers, selling products at home, among more specific issues, namely the relationship with finances, customs, financial system and financing.
“And we are working to provide an integrated solution, from formalization, access to social security, to a professional card in an organized, structured and regulated way, to financing, under the conditions that the business of the rabidantes allows, and the digital itself, how to use and enhance its use which is within reach of a cell phone.
“To be able to increase the intervention capacity of their businesses and have greater income, create better conditions for each one and for their families”, added Correia e Silva, highlighting the intention of many of these women to create their own formalized small businesses, that is, micro and small companies.
On behalf of the group, Nélida, president of the Association of Rabidantes of Santiago Sul, said that it is with “enormous satisfaction” that they participate in this event, promoting the exchange of experiences, based on team spirit.
“Our main objective is to share experiences and gather information that can serve as a guide or GPS for the future,” he said, considering that training and financing are “fundamental” tools for promoting self-employment and, consequently, for creating jobs in society.
