Government defends zero tolerance for situations of neglect of children and adolescents

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Lídia Lima, asserted this Thursday, on the island of Sal, that the Government requires zero tolerance for situations of neglect by parents towards their children.

Lídia Lima made this warning on the sidelines of the opening of the central act of the celebrations of the International Children’s Day, which was celebrated on June 1st, and which she presided over, under the motto “Djuntu num sô voz”, (together in a single voice), zero sexual violence against children and adolescents”

In view of the objective “Zero Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents”, the official said that it is necessary to believe in that possibility, emphasising that the Government is fighting relentlessly in this sense, with the regulation of some laws, the revision of the statute of children and adolescents, with parental accountability, among other measures.

“We are creating measures to hold civil and criminally responsible families and parents who have this responsibility and neglect this attention and care for their children. Any type of violence against children is intolerable in Cabo Verde, so everyone must be responsible for their attitudes”, he said, reiterating zero tolerance for this type of situation.
