
Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Paulo Rocha, justified on Wednesday, the increase in crime in Cabo Verde, in the order of 33 percent (%) in 2021, with the resumption of social and economic life and the increase in social conflict.
Speaking to journalists after presiding over the seminar on “Special operations of criminal prevention” and the 16th meeting of the heads of the National Police (PN), taking place in the City of Praia, the Minister stressed that several reasons explain this increase in crime, starting with the resumption of social life and the lifting of measures to contain the pandemic.
“Therefore several reasons explain, as the National Director said, we were coming from a period and we are still in a pandemic period. There has been a decrease in the movement of people and activities and in the resumption we feel this increase”, he said.
However, the Minister said that there are other reasons may explain the increase in social conflict, violence, assault and offenses.
