Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Communities, Jorge Santos, announced on Monday that the Government will set up later this year the Cabo Verdean communities council, aiming at a more effective participation in everything that is the Cabo Verde governance.
The announcement was made by the Minister to Inforpress after the videoconference meeting took place with Cabo Verdean associations representatives based in Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom and France.
The idea, according to the Minister, is to create the communities Council at national level, but also at regional level as in the USA, Portugal and other countries where there are diplomatic representations to allow a dialogue.
“The time has come to value the participation of our Diaspora and to see in the Cabo Verdean Diaspora a great asset that values the national development effort,” said the Minister who said the idea is to make the Diaspora actively participate in the governance of the country, especially in matters that concern communities.
