Handball / President’s Cup: Cape Verde faces Guinea Conakry this Wednesday in Senegal

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verde women’s national handball team, removed from the quarter-finals of the 25th edition of CAN’2022, which takes place in Senegal, will play again today, this time, against Guinea Conakry, for the President’s Cup, secondary competition.

After accumulating defeats in the three matches of the Group A phase, against RD Congo, Angola and Algeria, the Cape Verde team fell to the secondary competition of CAN’2022, the President’s Cup, exclusive to the national teams that stayed along the way.

The Creole team will try, therefore, to repeat the feat achieved in their first appearance in a CAN final phase, in 2021 in Yaoundé (Cameroon) where they compensated for their elimination in the semi-finals with the conquest of the President’s Cup, achieved in the final against Kenya.

Angola and DR Congo (Group A), Congo and Egypt (Group B), Cameroon and Senegal (Group C) qualified for the next stage as first and second placed in each of the poules, respectively, selections which join the Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire combined as the best third-placed.
