Africa-Press – Cape verde. The executive director of Escola do Mar ( School of Sea) (EMAR), Liliane Pimenta, said today in Praia that if fishing is well explored in a sustainable way it can make an even “greater” contribution to the country.

Liliane Pimenta was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the “Feira Azul – Fair for professions linked to the Sea”, which takes place from today to Friday, 9th, at the Ildo Lobo Palace of Culture, as part of the celebrations of World Oceans Day, promoted by Ministry of the Sea, through EMAR.

According to the official, there is a global view that fishing is the poor sector, a view that EMAR disregards, as she said, if the sector is well explored, well-conceived and sustainable fishing can make an even greater contribution to Cabo Verde, as it is an archipelagic country.

“And EMAR within this purpose is carrying out various training actions from sailors, drivers, shipbuilding to build vessels with greater safety and better conditions in terms of food safety, in terms of fishing technology we are developing a range of training courses to in addition to workshops related to ocean literacy”, added the executive direct
