Africa-Press – Cape verde. Prices of imported goods in Cape Verde decreased by 0.5% in December 2025, according to data from the Foreign Trade Price Index released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
According to the INE, the import price index stood at 125.9, also reflecting reductions in the underlying (0.4%) and volatile (0.6%) indices compared to the previous month.
The decrease was mainly influenced by the reduction in prices of consumer goods (-2.0%) and capital goods (-5.1%), despite the increase recorded in intermediate goods (0.6%) and fuels (1.1%).
In year-on-year terms, the prices of imported goods registered a drop of 10.3% compared to December 2024.
Regarding exports, the price index decreased by 2.2% in December, after an increase in the previous month. Compared to the same period in 2024, export prices registered a negative variation of 3.1%.
The Terms of Trade Index stood at 115.2 in December 2025, reflecting a monthly decrease of 1.7%, although it registered an increase of 8.0% year-on-year.
