As indicated, the large investments in human resources, as well as materials and equipment, allowed the modernization of municipal services, which have allowed greater and better capacity to respond to the demands of citizens.
“ The current council team has been guided by a strategic line of action guided by the 3 strategic axes of its electoral platform that earned the population’s trust in 2020, that is: the Local Economy, Human Capital and Infrastructure. The youth that is transversal in these axes is one of the priorities of the council’s activities ”, he emphasized.
Youth education and housing
Regarding Education and Training, Boa Vista City Council currently supports a total of 81 university students attending the country’s universities, 26 of which were introduced in this academic year 2023/2024.
He said that in sports, the City Council has annually supported associations linked to water sports with the attribution of financial and material subsidies, as well as support granted to the island’s athletes who have participated in championships at national and international level, such as the African surfing championship and the African swimming championship, in which young athletes from Boa Vista participated, in addition to other actions carried out by the municipality to expand the practice of water sports.
The speaker added that in terms of housing, the Boa Vista City Council has already delivered 5 houses built from scratch and provided support to more than 12 young people in the construction of their homes, an investment that exceeds 13,000 contos.
Strong investments in culture and the primary sector
“In the field of Culture, the opening of the Municipal Library constitutes another major milestone for the municipality with a study space that has had an average of 300 students and readers per week, the promotion of scholarships for access to culture, support for musicians and local artists, the placement of the Bust of Maria Barba and the completion of the Morna house project in Povoação Velha are also important steps for local culture», he highlighted.
« In the primary sector, the Boa Vista City Council has provided significant support such as the delivery of various equipment, support in plowing the soil with tractors, technical support and training, the rehabilitation of fishermen’s shelters in the fishing areas of Praia de Derrubado and Praia das Gatas“, he reinforced.
On the other hand, Elmer Garcia understands that everyone’s demands are important. considered, however, that these must be done with respect, responsibility and above all with truth.
