Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Judicial Police arrested seven foreign nationals and seized more than 5.600 kilograms of cocaine in a joint operation with the Armed Forces (Coast Guard), coordinated through the Center for Maritime Analysis and Operations – Narcotics (MAOC-N).

The information was forwarded to the press on Wednesday by the director of the Judicial Police, adding that the operation had the “relevant collaboration” from the Brazilian Federal Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Navy and the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom.

The arrest and seizure of the fishing vessel from Brazil, according to Ricardo Gonçalves, happened on Friday, April 1, after an approach on the high seas on suspicion of international drug trafficking.

“Under the jurisdiction of Cabo Verde, Cabo Verdean Police Authorities boarded and inspected the vessel, having seized 5.668 kilograms of cocaine,” he said.
