Africa-Press – Cape verde. Juventude de Santiago Norte defeated Sporting da Boa Vista 2-1 today in a match of the second round of the national under-17 football championship, securing their second consecutive victory in the competition.

The Santiago Norte team scored in the 17th minute, going into halftime with a lead.

In the second half, Juventude scored their second goal and, despite a comeback attempt by Sporting da Boa Vista, won 2-1, adding three more points.

At the end of the match, Juventude’s captain, Christian Tavares, emphasized the team’s positive trajectory, noting that after winning the regional title, the objective now is to win the national championship.

“Two games, two wins, totaling six points. We managed to win the regional championship and now we are focused on winning the national one. We are close to achieving this goal,” he said.

Regarding the game, he considered it “very intense from the start,” with his team performing better in the first half, admitting some physical decline in the second, but emphasizing that the essential thing was securing the three points.

On the Sporting da Boa Vista side, captain Euclides Gomes acknowledged the difficulties after two defeats, but stressed that the team remains focused on the upcoming challenges.

“It becomes more complicated to achieve our objective, but nothing is lost. It was a good game for both teams. In the second half we improved in attack, but defensively we were weak. Now it’s time to train more and prepare for the next games with greater focus,” he said.

With the result, Juventude reinforces its lead, with six points, and gets closer to qualifying for the next phase of the competition.

In the next round, scheduled for Friday the 27th, Juventude faces EPIF, champion of Santiago Sul, while Sporting da Boa Vista hosts Académica da Brava.
