Africa-Press – Cape verde. The ship Kriola is expected to resume maritime transport operations on the Sotavento line next Monday, July 7, CV Interilhas announced this Thursday, which guarantees that it is concluding the last procedures for the safe return of the vessel to public service.
According to a statement from the company, the ship is currently docked at Porto Grande, in São Vicente, in the final phase of technical preparation. After the completion of the docking works at the CABNAVE shipyards on June 30, the initial watertightness tests were not positive, which led to the ship being re-entered dry for further checks and repairs to the hull.
These interventions, according to the same note, were successfully completed on July 1st.
With the ship afloat again, tests and checks of the onboard systems began, including starting the engines, generators and pumps, processes considered fundamental for carrying out mandatory inspections.
According to the same source, on July 2 and 3, technicians from S&C Cabo Verde, in coordination with the competent authorities, finalized the procedures necessary for issuing class, seaworthiness and flag certificates.
CV Interilhas estimates that the Kriola will begin its journey to Sotavento on July 5th, thus being ready to resume regular connections between the islands, starting on Monday.
