Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Constitutional Court (TC) has not yet ruled on the appeal of the PP candidacy for the Municipal Assembly, nor on the challenge of elements of the candidacies of the MpD and the UCID for the Municipal Council of Boa Vista.
The Partido Popular (PP) received the decision to reject its candidacy by the judge of the Boa Vista district court on October 30th for having presented a list competing only for the Boa Vista Municipal Assembly for the local elections of December 1st, 2024, and had 48 hours to present its appeal.
As for the case of the MpD and the UCID candidacies, it was the PAICV candidacy that filed the request to challenge the two candidacies on October 31st, and the Boa Vista district court notified the candidacies in question to exercise the adversarial system, which was then sent to the Constitutional Court.
According to the Electoral Code, the Constitutional Court has a period of 72 hours (three days) to rule on the appeal request.
To date, according to the representatives, none of the candidates has received a final decision on the appeal from the Constitutional Court.
Although the final lists of the three candidates, MpD, PAICV and UCID, were posted on 30 October, the draw for the position on the ballot paper, which should have taken place on 1 November, as established in the Electoral Code, has not yet taken place.
