Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Constitution of Cape Verde will be translated into the Cape Verdean language by September this year. In a first experience, the translation will be in the Santiago variant, but the Presidency of the Republic is willing to support the tradition in other variants of the country.

Until September Cape Verde will be able to have its Magna Carta available in the mother tongue. The linguist in charge of translating the Constitution, Manuel Veiga, says that this translation represents “a contribution to the standardization and officialization” of the Cape Verdean language.

At first, the translation is done in the Santiago variant, but the linguist says that the Presidency of the Republic will be available to support the tradition in other variants.

By July the first version may be ready for socialization to be published later in September.
