Margarida Fontes and Carlos Reis remain alone in the administration of RTC until July

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Margarida Fontes and Carlos Reis will lead, until the month of July, the destinies of the Cabo Verdean Radio and Television (RTC) administration, the Government announced today, through the Deputy Secretary of State of the Prime Minister, Lourenço Lopes. This after the removal of the PCA, Policarpo Carvalho. In his message to the journalists in the house, Lopes recalled the “administrative, financial and editorial autonomy” of RTC, but also made it clear that the Government will not fail to “exercise our diplomacy as the sole shareholder so that it has more and more tranquility and stability” .

At the press conference held on the morning of this Monday, 20th, to announce the new administrator of Inforpress and show the Government’s position regarding the independent council of RTC, Lourenço Lopes advanced that following the departure of Policarpo Carvalho “the Government decided to keep the current two directors”, until the end of the mandate.

Therefore, Margarida Fontes and Carlos Reis will lead RTC’s destinations until July, when the mandate of the current administrative team ends.

Policarpo Carvalho resigns

It should be recalled that the former chairman of the board of directors of Radiotelevisão Cabo-verdeana (RTC), Policarpo de Carvalho, resigned in January of this year, pending the final decision of the court on the case of alleged aggression against his wife made public at the time.

“Acknowledgment”

By making public its decision to maintain the administrative team of RTC with only two elements, the Government took the opportunity to express its “thanks and recognition” to the “arduous task” of Policarpo Carvalho in the leadership of Rádio e Televisão Cabo-verdeana, highlighting their “future vision” and contributions.

Lourenço Lopes also recalled the “appreciation for the dedication and competence” of the independent council in the RTC chaired by Daniel Medina, which also comprises Fernando Jorge Borges, Dirce Varela, Solange Furtado and Humberto Elísio.

Respect administrative, financial and editorial autonomy

In his message to RTC professionals, he stressed that “the Government respects administrative, financial and editorial autonomy, but we will not fail to exercise our diplomacy as the sole shareholder so that it has more and more tranquility and stability for its approximately 250 workers”.

Entry of Jair Fernandes at Inforpress

It should be recalled that Hamilton Jair Fernandes, former president of the Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC) was announced at the same conference as the new sole administrator of the Cabo Verdean News Agency, replacing José Vaz Furtado, who was exonerated from his position.

This, despite the fact that AJOC has already shown itself against this Single Manager model at Inforpress, as it does not favor plurality and democracy in decision-making.
