Minister of Justice says that dignifying of culture involves the assertion and respect for intellectual property

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Justice defended today that the dignification of culture and the arts goes through the unequivocal affirmation and absolute respect for intellectual property rights, recognizing the need to define a legal framework that regulates the sector.

Joana Rosa advocated this position when speaking at the opening of a training course on “Implementation of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” aimed at attorneys and representatives of institutions with attributions in the inspection of intellectual property rights, which takes place during these three days, at the Palácio Presidential, in the city of Praia.

According to the Minister, culture is a decisive element in the construction of the historical and collective identity of societies, and that has been assuming a central role in the creation of wealth and in the dynamisation of economic activity, equally capable of guaranteeing the production of goods and services in the framework of the world market, contributing to the economic development of the Country.

In this line, defended Joana Rosa, it becomes increasingly “imperative” to define a legal framework that regulates relations around the cultural, artistic and creative sector, thus ensuring, he pointed out, the growing recognition and presence of property rights intellectual sphere as a relevant sphere for the economy of the States.
