Africa-Press – Cape verde. The price of fuel has risen, since zero hours of this Friday, an average of 42.6%, compared to the April 2021 update. Regarding the average variation over the current year, it corresponds to a growth of 7.0 %.

According to the Multisectoral Economic Regulatory Agency (ARME), with the new price list, normal diesel will be sold at 134$50 per litre, gasoline at 167$10, oil at 118$10, diesel for electricity at 112$80, marine diesel at 100$90 per litre, fuel 380 at 101$30 per kilogram and fuel 180 at 106$00/kg.

Butane gas is now sold in bulk for 177$10 per kilogram, so three Kg bottles cost 505$00, six Kg bottles cost 1062$00, 12.5Kg bottles cost 2,213$00 and 55Kg bottles cost 9,739 $00.

With this maximum price update on the domestic market, gasoline, Jet A1, ULSD diesel and 0.5% fuel oil increased by 18.23%, 18.76%, 32.67%, 37.34%, and 22.77%, respectively.

The prices of butane, diesel, electricity, fuel oil 180 and fuel oil 380 maintained the prices for the month of March, gasoline, petroleum, normal diesel and marine diesel increased by 5.0%, which corresponds to an increase average fuel price of 2.50 percent.

ARME justifies the rise in oil prices especially with the war between Russia and Ukraine, aggravated by the economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the West.

He also explains that the forecast that Russian oil will no longer be traded by Western countries, with the consequent increase in supply, Russia’s refusal to suspend the war, the temporary interruption of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium pipeline and the terrorist attack to an oil installation in Saudi Arabia, contributed to the increase in the prices of oil and its derivatives.

Considering the consequences of the escalation of prices in the international fuel market, due to the current conflict and global geostrategic tension, the Government decided to temporarily suspend the application of the fuel pricing mechanism, during the period 01 April 2022 to 30 December.
