Africa-Press – Cape verde. The PAICV asked today the Government for a policy change, demanding greater transparency in the conduct of processes with a direct impact on the lives of Cape Verdeans, namely, privatizations and the management of public funds.
The position was expressed in a press conference by the leader of the parliamentary group of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition), João Baptista Pereira, in order to clarify a proposal for a motion of censure against the Government, submitted to the National Assembly.
As he pointed out, the party understands that “the motions of censure represent the extreme way” of attributing responsibilities to the Government, advancing that the country is facing an executive that “systematically has withheld information” that is very relevant to Cape Verdeans.
“Since 2016 we have been insisting with the Government to provide information that is relevant about conducting business in the Country, several times through requests in Parliament and, in many cases, even with this instrument, the Government does not provide information”, he pointed out, explaining that the PAICV is still waiting for the requested documents at the magna house, still without answers.
