Africa-Press – Cape verde. Historian António Correia e Silva said thursday that his latest literary work “Noite Escravocrata/Madrugada Camponesa” launched in the Presidency of the Republic facilities, depicts a historic journey from the function of Cabo Verde, as a frontier of slave society.

“Cabo Verde was one of the first slave societies of a vast world that begins in Cabo Verde, goes to São Tomé, the Antilles and then to the American continent in this vast universe that Cabo Verde is the frontier of this world”, illustrated the historian and writer for whom there was much struggle for the slave society to become a society of peasants.

This is because the peasants refused the status of slaves and claimed access to the land in a three-century struggle that makes Cabo Verde, early, before the other slave spaces, the first peasant-majority society in the Atlantic, he explained.

Since the 18th century Cabo Verde has become a society of peasant majority, having entered the nineteenth and twentieth centuries without problems that many other societies had, said the author of the book, stressing that this “bittersweet victory” cost a lot to the peasants.
