Africa-Press – Cape verde. The candidate for the leadership of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) Nuias Silva said today that he wants to collect contributions from activists and civil society to close the governance platform of the party and Cape Verde.
Nuias Silva spoke to Inforpress about the open conversation he had with his party’s activists and with people from São Vicente, in a kind of “pre-contact” for a broader meeting later.
“Our message is one of unity and hope, reflecting the motivations behind our candidacy. We are a candidacy with collective momentum that aims to unite the party around the principles, values and causes it defends, to not only win internally, but also win Cape Verde in 2026 and change the course of the country”, explained the candidate.
The candidate said that he showed the activists that he wants the PAICV to be an open party that is in permanent dialogue with society, capturing the different social dynamics to incorporate them into its public policy actions, whether for the parliamentary front or for the political front. municipal, or for the country’s governing front.
He also stressed that he aims for the PAICV to be a party that gives a regionalist dimension, with several faces and with vice-presidents who have political responsibilities over certain territorial spaces but which reinforces the trust and autonomy of the political regions, in the country and in the diaspora, and that values intergenerational capabilities.
According to Nuias Silva, despite it being a meeting with specific invitations, people responded positively and there was a “very large” turnout, not only for the open conversation, but also for support for the candidacy.
“We ask activists to support our candidacy because we understand that we have the profile that best fits the times in which we live. The PAICV needs a president who is open to dialogue, who has proven his worth, with a recognized political, academic and professional background, at the national level and beyond, and a politician who has a history within the party”, he argued, highlighting that he has a history of more than 25 years in the party.
The same source considered that at this moment he is one of the candidates who can dialogue with all sensibilities within the party and therefore feels able to promote unity around the PAICV.
Asked whether it would not be healthy for the party that wants to return to power to have a single consensual candidacy instead of having four candidates competing internally, Nuias Silva stated that internal disputes are healthy, and show their own dynamics and visions to strengthen the party and put you in a position to win. in better conditions to be able to win 2026.
“What must exist are rules regarding internal disputes. These are not disputes that should be maximized on social media, allowing direct dialogue with activists and discussions with activists, such as the open conversation that we promote for clarification and collection of subsidies. That serves to strengthen the PAICV”, he maintained, reinforcing that in a democracy disputes must be naturalized.
“What we guarantee is that our candidacy is and will always be involved in a pedagogical dispute because we have a bias and a history of caring and always being aligned with the party and the militants can be assured that our candidacy will not cause any harm. no type of issues that could affect the day after the internal elections”.
Therefore, Nuias Silva assured that he will be guided by a candidacy that will share only the ideas he has for the party and for Cape Verde, without talking about his opponents, but also without devaluing them because they are also illustrious figures who must continue to contribute to the party.
