Ombudsman urges Government to sign administrative agreement with Senegal for patient transfer

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ombudsman urged the Government to sign the missing administrative agreement to guarantee the transfer of Cape Verdean patients to Senegal, creating an alternative to Portugal, whose quota “is exceeded”.

José Carlos Delgado was speaking to journalists following a visit to the National Institute of Social Security (INPS) to discuss with the institute’s administration and find solutions to some complaints from users, including the delay in responding to medical transfers.

“The complaints we receive are basically around this (…) delay in evacuations, the issue of subsidies for companions and updating pensions. That is why we believe that finding another destination for evacuations other than Portugal would be extremely important for Cape Verde,” he said.

According to the Ombudsman, Senegal would be “a good alternative” since the State of Cape Verde already has a convention, just missing the signing of the administrative agreement.
