Africa-Press – Cape verde. The bill approving the Maritime Code of Cabo Verde was approved in its entirety this Tuesday, in Parliament with favorable votes from the Movement for Democracy (MpD) and abstention from the PAICV and the UCID.

The diploma that went to the final global vote after a discussion of some articles, following the request for recall by the PAICV, received 34 votes in favor of the MpD and 23 abstentions from the opposition, 19 from the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV and four from the Democratic Independent Cape Verdean Union (UCID).

The purpose of the Cape Verde Maritime Port Code is to regulate the national maritime spaces, as well as the situations and legal relationships arising from maritime navigation.

With this new code, which will replace the code in force since 2010, the Government intends to introduce in the country a maritime code suitable to the Government’s program for the sector, modern and in line with international standards.
