Africa-Press – Cape verde. Several tourist guides from Santo Antão, who operate in Paul, are concerned about the state they say is “worrying” of the local roads in the municipality, taking into account that the island lives mainly from mountain and nature tourism. They even say that they have “no security”.
Vitorino Monteiro, one of the guides cited by Inforpress, recalled that it is not new that people have been asking for the cleaning of Paul’s back roads to be done, but without success.
The weeds and plants that are in the way have made life difficult for those who walk “daily” on those circuits, putting safety in question.
“We are concerned about these accesses that do not provide any security for us and our customers. This problem has also bothered many tourists who, several times, question what is done with the amount of tourist tax they pay for each night spent on the island”, he pointed out.
urgent intervention
With the high season, nothing has been done to improve the scenario, so this guide calls for an “urgent intervention”, to improve the various vicinal paths of Paul.
“These paths are dangerous and it is a pity to see how the itineraries of Cova, Pé de Calipto, Chã de Menel Santos, Chã de Café, among others, are doing”, he lamented.
The Cape Verdean information agency advances that it tried to hear the local authority on the subject, but without success.
