Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mare Marisia, ridden by the jockey Bilick da Luz, from Porto Novo, won for the second consecutive time the horse race in the municipality of Paul, as part of the festivities of the day of the municipality and of Santo António das Pombas.

Niamy, ridden by jockey Kéké, also from Porto Novo, was in 2nd place and Única, ridden by Jockey Leo Ferreira, took 3rd place.

In fourth place was the horse Tranka, in fifth place was Suihara, sixth Ryder, seventh place Prince, in eighth place Queen and Naitoby was in last place.

16 horses in competition

The leader of the Égua Branca Equestrian Association (Hipiegua), Tito Pires, said that there were 18 horses that were going to participate, but only two ended up giving up.

Meanwhile, according to the same source, having 16 horses competing shows that equestrianism in Santo Antão is growing.

The horse race was sponsored by the Municipality of Paul, in partnership with other entities, in honor of Epifânio Ferreira, who died in April, and who was a great promoter of equestrianism in Santo Antão.
