Africa-Press – Cape verde. According to the same source, the seizure occurred as part of a joint operation between the PJ, through the Mindelo Criminal Investigation Department, assisted by the National Police, yesterday afternoon, October 3.
This is an operation that is part of the plan to prevent and combat drug trafficking, targeting a group of individuals living in the town of Ribeira Bote (Madeira Island), who are strongly suspected of committing crimes of illicit drug trafficking and who, in a coordinated manner, were selling various drugs on the island.
In the statement, the PJ states that this operation, which is the result of the execution of Search, Search and Seizure Warrants issued by the Court, carried out searches in five residences in the aforementioned town, culminating in the arrest of three men aged between 26 and 66, both from São Vicente.
The suspects caught red-handed were seized with more than 4 million and one hundred thousand escudos in cash, sheets, curtains and mobile phones, suspected of being objects of receiving stolen goods.
The defendants were also found in possession of large quantities of drugs, including cannabis, 10 balls weighing 10.560 kg, 24 large packages weighing 735 grams, and 8 bars and 24 stones of hashish with a total net weight of 380 grams.
“In compliance with legal formalities, the PJ informs that the detainees will be brought before the competent judicial authorities for the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures”, it reads.
