Plastic Odyssey: An itinerant exhibition to visit from tomorrow in Mindelo

Africa-Press – Cape verde. From tomorrow, April 3rd, until the 13th, anyone in Mindelo can visit the itinerant exhibition “Odyssey of Plastic”, at the Cultural Center of Mindelo.

The exhibition is the result of the work carried out by the Plastic Odyssey, an expedition ship that travels around the world to fight plastic pollution.

During their travels, they look for objects, materials and ideas to break dependence on plastic and raise awareness among populations.

These objects are presented to the local inhabitants in each port of call of the vessel and now it’s time for Mindelo.

To visit until the 13th of April

The ship will call at the island until April 18th and the Cultural Center of Mindelo hosts this exhibition between April 3rd and 13th. The event is open to the public, and the inauguration takes place at 10:30 am, this Monday.

According to a press release sent to our editorial office, on board the Plastic Odyssey, treasure chests are sailing, large crates in which the expedition team gathers solutions while traveling around the world.

Treasure Chests contain objects, ideas and testimonials from around the world to help plastic end up in the ocean.

At each stage of the expedition, the Plastic Odyssey crew opens the “chests” to show these “gems” to the local population and presents the exhibition in a cultural space in the city, as will happen in Mindelo.

Since last October 1, 2022, the MV Plastic Odyssey has left Marseille, France, for a three-year expedition around the world.

On board the ship, around twenty “explorers” are tasked with finding concrete solutions to combat plastic-derived pollution.
