PM reaffirms that tourism is the most important economic activity in Cabo Verde

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, reaffirmed in Tarrafal (Santiago) the tourism is in fact the most important economic activity in Cabo Verde and highlighted the tourist potential and specificity of each island.

The leader of the Executive, who was speaking at the closing of the Technical Days – Seminar “Tarrafal – tourist hub”, which takes place since Friday at the Municipal Market of Crafts and Culture of Tarrafal, assured that after the management of emergencies, the archipelago will keep the focus on the recovery of the 2019 numbers in terms of tourism.

(…) Tourism is in fact the most important economic activity in Cabo Verde, not to say that it will have to be the only activity that is a different thing”, he said, advocating that tourism still has a field and very large development and growth space in Cabo Verde.

To support his statement, Ulisses Correia e Silva reported that there is external demand in terms of tourism, hence noted that the country has to create the appropriate supply conditions for this demand. Moreover, he highlighted the fact that even with the crisis in the summer, the country registered a good occupancy rate of around 90/95 percent (%), predicting an increase in winter.
