Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, signs this Tuesday, 20, in Lisbon, with the Portuguese government, the memorandum of understanding on the Climate and Environmental Fund, which aims to provide greater environmental protection and economic gains.
At the signing of the memorandum of understanding, which takes place at the official residence of the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, the head of government will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, Rui Figueiredo Soares.
Among other objectives, the memorandum aims to convert Cape Verde’s existing debt to Portugal into funding for climate and environment projects.
The government of Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) wants the Climate and Environment Fund, by 2025, to be able to mobilise amounts of around 12 million euros from the Portuguese government, in response to the need to make Cabo Verde “more resilient” and with a “more diversified” economy in the area of climate and environmental funding.
