Porto Inglês: 12th grade students receive guidance on financial education

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The 12th grade students at Horace Silver Secondary School, in Maio, will benefit from the first session of a series of lectures, on the importance of the conscious and correct use of money. The initiative, called Financial Education in Schools, is developed by the young Danelson Semedo, graduated in management.

The session will take place on January 9th, Monday, and is aimed at pre-university students, bearing in mind that many students need to move from their home island or country to continue their studies.

According to the promoter, who was born on the island of Maio, not everyone is prepared for the great challenge that is good money management.

“This lecture enables access to knowledge and the construction of a generation of value, which tends to make decisions based on assumptions such as saving, conscious consumption, investing and becoming capable of monetizing its resources, writing a promising future in a planned way” , explains Danelson Semedo.

break a taboo

Matters related to money, as he stresses, are still considered a taboo, not always addressed in schools or at home, by parents and guardians.

The Financial Education in Schools project has its debut on the island of Maio, but the objective is to take it to other schools in the country.

The first lecture, which has the support of Caixa Económica, Pró Empresa, ISCEE, MIM, Associação Cadjitinha, B2, CM Maio and MM Criativa, will feature the participation of master in economics Júlia Ferreira, specialist in education finance, but also other specialists in the field of management.
