Africa-Press – Cape verde. The “Blue April – International Month for the Prevention of Child Abuse” campaign continues in the municipality of Porto Novo with meetings involving early childhood education professionals and raising public awareness, Inforpress reported.
In an initiative of the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), in partnership with the municipal council, the municipality of Porto Novo has been carrying out several actions within the scope of this campaign, notably an ‘open conversation’ on the prevention of child abuse.
The meeting, which took place in Ribeira das Patas, involved early childhood education professionals from the municipality.
The campaign consists of raising public awareness about the different types of abuse, namely physical, psychological, neglect and sexual abuse, as well as empowering families and caregivers to adopt positive parenting practices.
Encouraging the reporting of at-risk situations and boosting the functioning of support and protection networks are other purposes of this initiative.
