Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government clarified today that the Cabo Verde 100% LED program is financed exclusively by the executive branch, confirming an investment of 20 million escudos in the municipality of Porto Novo in the area of public lighting.
In a clarification note sent to Inforpress, the Government informed that this amount is fully financed by the Government of Cabo Verde and is intended for the “replacement and reinforcement of public lighting lamps”.
Inforpress had access to the investment plan of the Porto Novo Municipal Council for 2026, which also refers to an investment of around 20 million escudos in the reinforcement of public lighting in the municipality, with 14 million escudos coming from the Treasury and the remainder from the municipal budget.
At the level of the entire island of Santo Antão, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy plans to install 6,500 LED lamps within the framework of the Cabo Verde 100% LED program.
