Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Pascoal Alves community, in the Northern Plateau, expressed its desire this Sunday for this area in the interior of the municipality of Porto Novo to be included in the new package of trail restoration projects for the municipality.
According to Inforpress, the trail connecting Pascoal Alves to other communities in the Northern Plateau was destroyed by recent floods, and the community has been calling for urgent restoration of this road, the only one providing access to this village nestled in the interior of this municipality.
The Government, through the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), announced last week the national call for proposals for the execution of the contract to rehabilitate trails and viewpoints in the municipality of Porto Novo.
These trails were destroyed by Storm Erin and will be restored shortly under the new package, funded by the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project, funded by the World Bank.
These trails, which still connect several communities, are widely used by tourists who come to Santo Antão for hiking.
