Africa-Press – Cape verde. The new volunteer fire station in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, will be built in Água Doce, near the cemetery, where a suitable location has already been identified, informed the mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro.
According to Inforpress, the mayor, responding to the corporation’s concern about the need for a new volunteer fire station, assured that the government and the municipality are working to make this project viable as part of a protocol signed between the parties.
Under the protocol, the government commits to building the fire station, and in return, the municipality will provide the facilities of the old municipal workshop building for the installation of an arts and crafts center.
Elisa Pinheiro informed that the municipality has already identified the land for the construction of the new fire station and that the process will advance as quickly as possible, since “it is a necessity”.
The Porto Novo Volunteer Fire Department reported that it has always been the desire of this organization to see a new fire station built, hoping that the project will be realized “as soon as possible.”
The firefighters hope to be involved in the project’s development, so that it can contribute to this municipality having “an excellent fire station capable of serving the entire island of Santo Antão.”
