Africa-Press – Cape verde. Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, will have two landing stages between 2026 and early 2027, which will be located in the fishing communities of Monte Trigo and Tarrafal, in the interior of this municipality.
The construction of the two landing stages is planned as part of the project to protect the coastal areas of these two locations, already financed by the World Bank, to the tune of 320 thousand contos.
The project, as announced by the Government, could start in the last quarter of 2025, being completed 14 months later.
In addition to the two landing stages, the project also includes the construction of a kilometre of road between Ponta do Sul and the Praia area, in Tarrafal, and the requalification of the bay in that location.
Fishing operators in Monte Trigo and Tarrafal have been demanding the construction of boat trawlers to support fishing activity in these areas.
In the fishing community of the city of Porto Novo, fishing operators have been asking for the construction of a fishing pier.
