Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic proposed this Saturday (1st) to the Mayor of New Bedford to carry out specialized missions to share good practices that help improve the quality of services and life of the populations on the islands.

José Maria Neves, who shared this idea during the meeting he had with Jon Mitechell, responsible for the city that was the birthplace of Cape Verdean emigration in the United States of America, took the opportunity to thank him for everything he has done for the oldest Cape Verdean community.

According to the publication on his Facebook page, the Head of State and the Mayor of New Bedford analyzed new forms of cooperation to be explored, particularly in terms of decentralized cooperation and using new information and communication technologies.

The high point of the first Presidency in the Diaspora took place this Saturday at the Whaling Museum, where José Maria Neves rewarded personalities, institutions and representative organizations in the USA, a moment that also served to visit the permanent exhibition that highlights the history of Cape Verdean emigration to the USA, initiated precisely by the city of New Bedford, through the whaling ships that docked the islands.
