The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, reaffirmed the country’s firm and constant willingness to strengthen ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation with the United States of America, in a message addressed to the US President, Donald Trump, on the occasion of US National Day, celebrated on 4 July.
In the letter, José Maria Neves underlines the desire to deepen collaboration between the two countries in mutually beneficial areas, both bilaterally and multilaterally, based on the sharing of common values and interests.
On behalf of the Cape Verdean people and in his own name, the Head of State sends Donald Trump his warmest congratulations and best wishes for health, personal success and continued prosperity for this friendly nation”.
In the same document, the President also highlights the historical ties between Cape Verde and the United States, recalling that this country occupies a unique place in the history and collective memory of the Cape Verdean people, having welcomed a significant Cape Verdean diaspora community for centuries.
