“We have huge challenges ahead and we know that there is a certain due and legitimate lack of motivation, because ten years have passed and nothing has happened, everything remains almost the same, but we are committed to implementing the Municipal Police, we put it in the budget, but not yet. we managed to implement”, said the mayor cited by Inforpress.
“Productive” dialogue with the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Francisco Carvalho added that there has been dialogue between the Municipality of Praia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to achieve this objective.
“We are available and open at the city hall for the implementation of the Municipal Police. The money needed to implement the Municipal Police is reserved in the budget and, at the moment, there is no guarantee at the central level of the Government. We are working in this direction and we are very confident because the meeting we had with the Minister was very productive and we believe that in 2023 we will be able to implement the Municipal Police in the city of Praia”, he declared.
Improve working conditions for municipal guards
The president of Praia also said that the city council is working on the sharing of fines, promising to also work on creating conditions for municipal guards to feel “satisfied” and “motivated” in the performance of their duties.
