Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police (PN) has been carrying out, since the early hours of the morning, a mega-operation of search and seizure in Achada Santo António, one of the largest and oldest neighborhoods in the capital. Some people have already been arrested during the operation.
As A Nação found out on the spot, around 9:00 am, about half a hundred police officers surrounded the area of Achada Santo António known as PMI-PF, and where the former BAC operated, that is, the Anti-Crime Brigade that it was a special unit of the National Police dedicated solely and especially to fighting crime.
It should be noted that, lately, the PN has been carrying out several operations in compliance with search and search warrants in several neighborhoods of the city of Praia, which culminated in the arrest of individuals in flagrante delicto.
Many of these warrants targeted the residences and premises of identified individuals belonging to groups that have been disturbing the peace and tranquility of citizens and, in particular, residents of various areas and surroundings.
In these operations, police authorities seized drugs, weapons and other suspicious objects and materials used in the commission of crimes under investigation.
It is recalled that, last week, in Praia, the National Police destroyed 1000 weapons seized in operations carried out from January 2021 to this part, of which 600 are differentiated bladed weapons and 400 handcrafted firearms ( “bedju mouth”).
