Praia: State of MpD Deputy shot in the face is “stable” – guarantees parliamentary leader

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Deputy Manuel Moura, who was shot in the face yesterday, is in “stable” health. The guarantee is from the parliamentary leader of the MpD, Paulo Veiga. The police are already investigating the case.

It should be recalled that deputy Manuel Moura, elected by the constituency of Santiago Sul on the MpD lists, was shot last Saturday night, during an alleged robbery in the Terra Branca area, in the city of Praia.

“We express our support and solidarity and support for the family of Manuel Moura, who suffered an assault yesterday (Saturday) and who is stable and the police are already investigating, on the ground, what happened,” said Paulo Veiga, quoted by Inforpress .

safer society

Paulo Veiga recognized that this situation demonstrates that insecurity in the country’s capital is an issue that needs to be fought and called on everyone to contribute to a safer society.

“The police alone cannot solve this problem, which goes beyond policing the streets, it has to do with the loss of values in our society, in Praia especially, which is deteriorating”, he said.

This official also defended that the problem cannot be analyzed only from the perspective of the security forces.

“We have to discuss this as a society and see the paths we have to reverse, because it is really becoming something problematic”, he lamented.

The same also considered that this assault on a deputy of the Nation may increase the level of perception of insecurity of the population.

gun law

On the other hand, he recalled that at the legislative level a law was approved to transform crimes with homemade weapons, popularly known as boca bedjo, with penalties equal to firearms and that the same has already been enacted by the President of the Republic.
