President of AN challenges Eventual Commission for Reform to work to make Parliament more efficient and effective

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the National Assembly (AN), Austelino Correia, challenged the members of the Eventual Commission for Parliamentary Reform, now sworn in, to work to make the Cape Verdean Parliament increasingly efficient and effective.

The head of the Parliamentary House, who was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 10 members of the commission, underlined that the more modern, more up-to-date and with better management instruments, both political and administrative, the better the deputies will carry out the function of representation.

“As you know, the power is not ours. Power belongs to the people, who transmit it to us through votes, and this power must be exercised in the name of the people and for the people. With this reform, we hope that we will continue to have an increasingly efficient, more effective Parliament that produces with quality all the services that it does here, above all, what has to do with the exercise of the position of deputy”, he added.

Austelino Correia stressed that the office of deputy must be exercised efficiently, with quality and transparency, responding to the challenges of having an open Parliament.
