Prime Minister calls for "convergence" of sovereign bodies

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, today called for “coincidence and convergence” among the sovereign bodies and promised to work for the common good of Cape Verdeans.

“We [the Government] have every interest in the so-called strategic convergence in favor of the country and our development”, declared Ulisses Correia e Silva during the presentation of New Year’s greetings to the President of the Republic.

“The beginning of a new year is always a time of new expectations and hope. We hope that this year will be better, with peace in the world and improvements in the living conditions of Cape Verdeans”, he predicted.

For his part, the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, said that despite being a formal moment, it shows the entire country that the sovereign bodies must cooperate and seek understanding and consensus.

It is also a time, he added, when the sovereign bodies must carry out the necessary collaboration so that the country’s major objectives are effectively achieved.

“Therefore, you can count on the full cooperation of the President of the Republic so that we [the sovereign bodies] can successfully achieve our objectives”, he promised.

However, he noted that, despite the difficult and complex times at various levels, and the country’s island situation, it is necessary to find ways to reach understanding and reach consensus.

“At this time, we need institutional stability, a strong government and opposition that will allow the normal functioning of the Cape Verdean political system”, appealed the head of state, considering that there is institutional stability in Cape Verde.

“There is no crisis in relation to the different institutions of the Republic and, therefore, we are in a position to face the challenges of 2025”, noted José Maria Neves, warning that this is a pre-election year.

The President of the Republic wished the Cape Verdeans a good year and the ongoing search for understanding in order to achieve success.
