The Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, who is accompanied by his wife, Clara Moreno Bom Jesus, is leading a delegation made up of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Edite Ramos da Costa, the Minister for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, New Technologies and Parliamentary Affairs, Wuando Borges Castro de Andrade; Minister of Education and Higher Education, Julieta Isidro Rodrigues, the Secretary of State for Commerce and Industry, Eugénio Graça and the Secretary General for Internal Security, João Pedro Figueiredo Alvim.
The official will fulfill an agenda between the islands of Santiago and Sal, with visits to various institutions, and will be received by other national entities such as the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly.
The Government recalls that relations between the Republic of Cape Verde and the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe date back to the colonial period, with the wave of Cape Verdean emigrants, who were “hired” to work in agriculture/former agricultural companies in STP.
Over the 45 years of cooperation between the two nations, he underlines, some bilateral and multilateral legal instruments were signed, in sectors such as training in the hotel and tourism sector, renewable energies and energy efficiency; health, justice, agriculture, fisheries, among others.
