Public finance website makes the reports and data produced by the institution transparent and public – president

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Public Finance Council, Osvaldo Borges, indicated this Wednesday that the new website makes the reports, studies and data produced by the institution more “transparent and public”, considering it an important milestone for the solidity of the national economy.During the launch ceremony, at the Government Palace, in the City of Praia, Osvaldo Borges said that the council’s reports, opinions and recommendations are fundamental to guarantee the sustainability of public finances, specifying that this website meets the legal requirement.

As he explained, the council created in 2019 within the scope of the budgetary framework, has the mission of carrying out an independent assessment of the consistency of budgetary rules and public finances, functioning as an independent and consultative body for the Government, parliament, companies, academia and society in general.

“According to article 20 of the statute, the analyzes and reports produced by the Public Finance Council must be made available to the public on its website. In this sense, the development of this website is a legal requirement, which demands that we have a page that discloses all the information, methodologies, reports, data, studies so that institutions understand what procedures were used to reach this result” he continued.

It is, he added, an important instrument that, in addition to disseminating results, integrates a vast structure that offers “easy and intuitive” access to all valuable information, especially of a technical and scientific nature.

Osvaldo Borges said that the development of this project would not have been possible without the political will and dynamism of those responsible, as well as the skills of several professionals with 10 to 15 years of experience who managed “in just three months” to build and have a operational management.

The coordinator of the Technologies, Innovation and Communication Unit, engineer Dedier Lima, clarified that the website was a request and clear guidance from the vice-prime minister, Olavo Correia, highlighting that this guidance was due to the creation of a platform with access mainly to Integrated Budget and Financial Management System – SIGOF.

“Over these last three months, our team has worked tirelessly to create a platform of the same international level, but which meets the expectations of the institution itself and which represents this institution well online” he said, ensuring that the site fits in with what is to be built on transparency in Cape Verde.
