The Portuguese Cape Verdean football player , Ricardo Pereira , international for Portugal, offered to the football initiation school Bola pra Frente , this Saturday morning , in the city of Praia, several sports materials in recognition of the work that has been developed in favor of football and children , under the leadership of president and coach Silvéria Nedio “Nita” .

“It was something that we had thought of doing for some time, and now that my brother has contacts here and we have families living in Cape Verde, we managed to get these materials here”, said the footballer in statements to Inforpress, adding that among the materials offered, there are jerseys, shorts, socks, cleats, balls, gloves, pins and vests.

Ricardo Pereira, who highlighted the work carried out by Silvéria Nedio “Nita” in favor of children and Cape Verdean football, considered that this is the right project to help.

“It is a child who twists the cucumber”

On the occasion, Ricardo Pereira also said that in order to develop football it is necessary to start at the grassroots level, training children, because, quoting the saying, “it is from a small age that the cucumber is twisted” and the work that this school and others have done has been good.

“I came here to try to give a little help in this work so that in a few years many of these boys can be on the other side and do the same thing I did and inspire other kids”, underlined Ricardo Pereira, who encouraged the children to continue working .

A dream that came true

For her part, the president and coach of Bola pra Frente, Silvéria “Nita”, expressed her “emotion” at the fact that her school received, for the first time, the visit of an international, especially the Portuguese Cape Verdean, Ricardo Pereira.

Meanwhile, he thanked the footballer for the initiative and all those involved in sport, especially football.

“Having an international here today is a dream come true and is a great success for us, and I hope that other schools can also benefit from this type of initiative, because we need, not only materials, but also people who value the our work”, he stressed.
