The bishop of the Diocese of Mindelo, Don Ildo Fortes, highlighted last Saturday in Mindelo, Saint Vincent as a great driver of the people and of someone who was at the service of others. Don Ildo Fortes spoke to the press about the solemn Mass, celebrated in honour of the patron saint of Sao Vicente.
According to the bishop, the spirit of this celebration should bring to today the examples of this man, who was a young man who so early gave his life to the church and to Jesus Christ, who could choose the glories of the world, but lived in coherence, did not deny his faith, and so he was a martyr.
“Saint Vincent had a preaching ability and he ends up being a great driver of the people. Therefore, the Saints live for others. This is a great example to learn from Saint Vincent. It is to be in service, strong and comforted to help those who need it most,” he said.
