Africa-Press – Cape verde. Around 200 national and foreign participants are expected at the Cape Verde Investment Forum, which will take place on the island of Sal, between the 16th and 17th of July, with the motto “Cape Verde open to the world”.

According to the president of Cabo Verde TradeInvest, José Almeida Dias, the event, which returns to Cabo Verde for a second session, after being held at Expo Dubai in February, will have a hybrid format with in-person and online participation.

The forum, within the framework of the country’s promotion policy, is a privileged instrument for promoting investments within the diversification strategies of the economy and a strong focus on the private sector.

“The event aims to share government strategies, promote investment opportunities, mobilize financial resources for project implementation and encourage the establishment of partnerships”, said the president of Cabo Verde TradeInvest.

Program

In addition to signing agreements and conventions for structuring projects for Cape Verde, the program includes thematic sessions with speakers from various backgrounds, plenary sessions and B&B meetings.

According to José Almeida Dias, a total of three plenary sessions and four thematic sessions will be held.

The first day of the meeting will be marked by a plenary session chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, with the theme “Diversification of Cape Verde’s economy and resilient recovery: challenges and opportunities.

According to José Almeida Dias, in this session, there will be several high-level speakers, namely from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Union, the Free Trade Area in Africa and Cape Verde TradeInvest itself.

“Financing the recovery” is another topic of the plenary session that will be chaired by the Secretary of State for Business Development, Adalgiza Vaz, and which will also feature speakers from high-level financial institutions such as the AfDB, the International Finance Society, the European Investment Bank, the Árebe Bank for the Economic Development of Africa (BADEA), the OPEC Fund and the Trade Hub.

Still on the first day, in the afternoon, they will start with thematic sessions, the first being tourism, where the issue of diversification will be evident.

On the second day, the 17th, there will be thematic sessions on “Opportunities in the blue economy”, “Sustainable development and green growth” and “Digital economy: Cape Verde as a digital hub”.

José Almeida Dias added that during the event, several structuring projects for the country in the most diverse domains will be presented.

“They are a set of projects that will be signed for a considerable amount. Therefore, it is a time, above all, to give the opportunity to national businessmen to have contacts with international financial institutions that will be present at the forum”, he underlined.

Carquejinha Beach and Golf Resorte, on the island of Boa Vista, Ponta Sirena do Sal, Atlantic Marina of São Vicente, Nortuna, Aquasun, LNG Clean Islands and Smart City Foundation, are some of the structuring projects that will be presented during the forum.
