The North Santiago Health Region (RSSN) intends to extend the opening hours of the Assomada Health Center, which operates from 8 am to 8 pm to 24/24 hours, having already presented the project to the Ministry of Health. This measure will shorten distances and reduce costs, as people pay 700 escudos for a taxi on the Assomada/Achada Falcão route, especially at night, to be attended to at the emergency services of the Hospital Regional Santa Rita Vieira, in North Santiago.
According to Inforpress, which cites the director of RSSN, João Baptista Semedo, this measure meets the demands of several residents/patients, who have to pay 700 escudos for a taxi at night from Assomada/Achada Falcão to be attended to in the emergency services of the Santa Rita Vieira Regional Hospital (HRSRV).
The Assomada Health Centre, which also houses the headquarters of the Health Department of Santa Catarina and other services, was inaugurated on July 26, 2022, but, however, only came into full operation from mid-September same year, and only works from 8 am to 8 pm.
Proposal has already been presented to the Minister of Health
According to João Baptista Semedo, the project to extend opening hours has already been presented to the Minister of Health.
“At the moment, we are in the process of cost analysis and scale simulation to move forward with its implementation”, said the director of RSSN.
