Santa Catarina: UCID Proposes the Construction of a Port in the Town of Rincão

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Adelgisa Monteiro denounced the feeling of “discontent and exclusion” that the population of Rincão has faced under the leadership of the traditional parties, the MpD and the PAICV, throughout their terms.

“The history of Rincão is marked by unfulfilled promises and neglect. The population feels left out, and it is time to turn that page,” declared the candidate.

Monteiro argued that the UCID is the party that brings concrete proposals and innovative solutions to revitalize the community, stating that the construction of a port would not only benefit local fishermen.

She also defended the need for an ice production center, which would guarantee the freshness of the fish and improve the quality of what reaches the Santa Catarina market.

“The quality of the fish is fundamental to our local economy. Our community produces enough and deserves to value its own wealth,” she stated, emphasizing that the supply could be entirely provided by local fishermen, avoiding the entry of frozen products from other municipalities. Monteiro also addressed the importance of investing in young people, proposing the construction of sports infrastructure, as well as a square that offers spaces for leisure and socializing. “Young people are the future of Rincão, and we need to create opportunities for them to develop and come together around constructive activities,” she emphasized. The candidate also spoke of the “urgent need” for a bridge that guarantees the safety of residents living near the sea, allowing them to cross during the rains and integrating the community. The construction of a health center is also a “priority” for the UCID candidacy, ensuring that everyone has access to basic care. Finally, Adelgisa Monteiro left a message of hope and change, reaffirming UCID’s commitment to “serving the population with an open heart” and implementing actions that improve quality of life, such as housing renovation and other necessary interventions.

In the race for the presidency of the Santa Catarina City Council, Adelgisa Monteiro represents UCID, facing Armindo Freitas (PAICV), Jacinto Horta (MpD) and Félix Cardoso (S-SAT).

In the 2020 elections, MpD won 14 city councils, while PAICV took control of eight.
