Africa-Press – Cape verde. The municipality of Santa Cruz will host a concert by the Cabo Cuba Jazz group, a show scheduled as part of the Kriol Jazz Festival. The show takes place on April 12th, at Praça dos Paços do Concelho.

The group will perform on the 10th, at Pracinha da Escola Grande, in the city of Praia and on the 12th, in Santa Cruz, in partnership with the city hall.

In the context of this event, the promoter of the Kriol Jazz Festival, José da Silva, met this Friday, 20th, with the mayor of Santa Cruz, Carlos Silva, and with the director of Culture, Galileu Tavares, to agree on the details of the show.

According to the mayor of Santa Cruz, this initiative represents a unique opportunity for the residents of Santa Cruz to enjoy a show of international quality, while reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to promoting culture and boosting local tourism.

According to the event organizers, Cabo Cuba Jazz is an international group that mixes the melody of the Cape Verde islands with a generous portion of Cuban rumba, salsa and jazz. “The result is 100 percent Cabo Cuba Jazz.”

The 14th edition of the Kriol Jazz Festival takes place on April 10, 11 and 12, in Praia, consolidating itself as a platform for cultural exchange and projection of Creole music on an international level.

This year’s edition of the Kriol Jazz Festival will pay tribute to saxophonist Totinho, who passed away last year. This year, the KJF will be included in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Cape Verde’s Independence.

Organized by Harmonia Ltda, the Kriol Jazz Festival has as one of its main objectives to encourage the circulation and distribution of artists and support the professionalization and economy of the country, both cultural and touristic.
