Santa Cruz: Workers want speed in completing the dossier Justino Lopes

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Associação dos Trabalhadores do Sector Agrícola Justino Lopes (AJL) of Santa Cruz asked the Government to solve, “urgently”, the current situation of the company and demanded the conclusion of the process of the once “biggest agro-food complex in the country”.

In a press conference this Tuesday, in Santa Cruz (Santiago), the president of AJL, Estanislau Teixeira, expressed concern about the future of the company Justino Lopes, created in the colonial period, in 1957, whose situation he considered “difficult”, especially with regard to several months of salary arrears.

However, he recalled that after negotiations with the Government, in the framework of the privatization of the aforementioned company, which went through the transfer of ownership of the former company, that the terms of the agreement at first satisfied them. Although with some uncertainties, they managed to take “some step important” whether with workers’ wages, with the INPS or with suppliers of goods and services intended for investments in the countryside.

“This led us to have a comfortable reigning situation, as it was the result of investment in the countryside that had been applied in a period when we had more water, more cultivated land, more human resources and, therefore, improved labor, with water , with land, training courses for members and others”, recalled the leader of the AJL.
